Like any modern witch, you know that sometimes life gets in the way and you end up prioritizing Excel over hexes. But despair not! Even when you’re feeling uninspired, you can easily whip up a sweet treat to put a magical pep in your pagan step.

Ingredients

  • Butter (100 grams): provides nourishment and supports healing
  • Egg (1): symbolizes creative beginnings
  • Flour (150 grams): keeps you grounded in the present
  • Sugar (125 grams): sweetens your mood
  • Rum (2 teaspoons): spices things up a bit

The ritual

Warm up: preheat your oven to 180°C, letting go of all the negativity from the day. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small container to soften your heart. I like to do this in the microwave because I’m a pragmatic witch.

Call upon creativity: in a bowl, whisk together the sugar, the egg, and the rum. As you mix, think back to some of your previous creative endeavors to retune your energy.

Solidify your wish: once the butter is lukewarm, add it to the bowl along with the flour. This binds your spell — and your batter, which will have a creamy but firm consistency.

Multiply your intention: line a cookie sheet with baking paper and dole out a teaspoonful of batter for each cookie, with enough space between each dollop. Aim to arrange the cookies in multiples of three (e.g. nine or 12 cookies per sheet), as this number symbolizes creative abundance.

Focus on the future: bake the cookies until the edges become golden. As you wait for them to be ready, think about your creative projects that you would like to work on in the future. Once they are done, take the sheet out of the oven and let it cool for a moment then transfer the cookies to a cooling rack.

Best served warm, with a cup of tea and a renewed sense of imagination.
